CAROLINE SLICK

Hi, I'm Caroline.

I am a Brooklyn based industrial designer with a strategic focus, driven to help brands create compelling design solutions. Currently, I am a Senior Industrial Designer at Smart Design.

I was born and raised in Seattle, a city that fostered my love of the outdoors, art and innovation. I’ve had some incredible opportunities which have allowed me to visit over 15 countries, I am passionate about experiencing diverse points of view and am always on the hunt for a good cup of coffee.

My educational background is in Industrial Design (BSD) from University of Washington. Following graduation, I interned at Herman Miller as their third internal designer and first female team member. After, I interned at TEAGUE and immersed myself in mobility design before making the move to NYC where I worked within the world of packaging at Prime Studio.

SKILLSETS AND BELIEFS

As a designer —

I am driven by the space between functionality and beauty. My process is iterative and hands on. I use deep research and rapid prototyping to evolve ambitious concepts into cohesive experiences that resonate.

As a strategist —

I enjoy the inevitable mess of ambiguous, complex problem spaces. I find joy in making sense of the madness and building a case for a products ‘why’. I do so with human emotions at the forefront.

As a business partner —

I help organizations uncover the emotional core that drives user behavior, push their imagination and ship intuitive product ecosystems that stand out. I think across categories, speak across stakeholders and clearly communicate future road mapping.

As a leader —


I leverage my empathetic soft-skills to connect with others and always lead with curiosity. I care for people as much as I do design outcomes. I enjoy maintaining the project vision and fostering a collaborative environment.
