Rosie: Design Research
A medical device for the
Cystic fibrosis community.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a chronic respiratory disease that causes persistent lung infections, requiring time intensive treatment regimes and a multitude of obtrusive medical devices.

Rosie, a comprehensive respiratory device system, liberates patients by applying active percussor treatment paired with passive lung data collection to streamline the treatment process. The clean aesthetic and calming interface tackles the stigma patients previously endured every day. Privacy, guidance and data hub is accessed through the partnered app.

1. THE HANDHELD PERCUSSOR
This design allows users to hold the percussor up to their chest, take deep breaths as the internal digital stethoscope analyzes their lung sounds. Once the data is collected, the external screen will light up and provide speed and duration suggestion for applying the percussor in this spot.

2. THE SLING PERCUSSOR
This design is paired with radar imaging technology. This technology would be used in this sling percussor, to wraps to different parts of the upper chest region. An interior light will highlight locations that have higher mucus density to target for treatment.

3. THE MODULAR SYSTEM
This set of percussor "pods" allows users to slide in the percussor to an accompanying tight undershirt with set pockets. This allows users to choose set areas of target care, and the hands free mobility as they endure their long treatment periods.
